HVC is a sustainable energy- and waste company for 44 municipalities and 6 water boards. They support their shareholding municipalities and boards in the process of transitioning ‘Van Gas Los’ (a program designed to reduce and, in the end, stop the use of natural gas). We are on the way to a circular economy. HVC is a medium-size company with the complexity of a multinational one. In order to create a firm base for the future, to make room for innovation and change, they needed to overhaul the outdated financial landscape radically.

They asked Erik Janse to help them.

Why did you ask Erik?

Well, our cfo Ingrid Tigchelaar enquired in her network. Erik’s name popped up. He is highly regarded and familiar with these sort of projects. We are ambitious, we knew this would not be just another project. It requires experience and expertise.
And, very important, we clicked.

Tell us what the job entailed

It started with the thorough survey of the future requirements needed for our information provision. We wanted to save all data in an integrated manner. Make it accessible. Erik guided and led the whole project from A to Z. From a theoretical framework, to the selection of suppliers, making test plans, guiding the implementation and training people. Meanwhile supervised teams, ensuring continuity and keeping the communication lines open with the supervisory board, the workplace and service providers.

Erik was responsible for the process, whereas I managed content.

Was everyone open to his way of working?

In order to have a well functioning team you need to keep the spirit up. He knows how to do that. Good to see that he works just as hard as the others. Very dedicated. The human aspect is so important. And he knows how to think on his toes.

Excuse me?

Yeah, think on your toes. It means he knows how to make a quick decision. No-nonsense and clear-headed.
